Text across the barrel is easily doable, but it would probably be hard to read unless the image size was increased, which would clip the other parts of the gun.

Maybe I can help you through it now, choose the magnetic lasso tool and go around the edges of the gun, and then once you go around it the whole way, it will select it, and from that point you can move it and stuff. Thats what I can offer for now. Using the magic wand tool probably wouldnt work as well, sometimes it has a hard time recognizing the colours and such.

when i was big on PS, i used to keep it between 20 and 27-thats a decent "right down the middle" setting, can differentiate whites, grays blacks, and other similar colors pretty well

if the colors are REAL close, knock it down to like 12 or 15

You can change the settings of the lasso tool? That would help out a lot.

heres a good one take the guy in this one and make a white background like its holy energy or something like that and have it say in black letters
